I’ve used PhatPad on many occasions, but with my own move to Internet based services, I’ve found less need for local applications on my Pocket PCs.  For the simple note taking that I need, Pocket Word suffices quite nicely.

HTC’s Athena (X7500)

HTC Athena HTC X7500 Pocket PC Phone Though there is some confusion on the exact specifications on the Athena class devices, it sure looks like a winner from a pure usability perspective.

The device sports a larger screen like larger PDA devices rather than the 2″ size that grace most PPC phones these days.  With a wide assortment of wireless connectivity options, and a detachable QWERTY keyboard, this may be a great alternative to the UMPC solutions currently available, especially if this device has VGA as it is rumored to.

Illinois rest stops to get WiFi

This is such a “duh!” idea that I just assumed that most all rest stops had WiFi access available.  I’m not knocking Illinois for not having done this earlier – just that it shows a person shouldn’t assume.  Kind of stupid of me I guess.  Better question – does my home state of Minnesota have WiFi at their rest stops?  I’ll have to look that one up.

At any rate, this is good news for all us who work on the road!
