So, it seems that the BlackBerry Connect services will be expanded in scope to include a number of new devices and carriers worldwide. Speaking in New York, rims co-CEO and Chairman James Balsillie described the expansion of the services, along with mentioning that a new version of the BlackBerry will be out by year end.
The initial rollout of new BB Connect devices will be on GSM networks as there are more than 200 carriers in 100 countries - a huge audience compared to CDMA. However, Balsillie did point out that CDMA would follow shortly after.
In addition to the expansion of BB Connect and a new device later this year, he mentioned new features that will be added to BlackBerry devices, including MP3 players, video, image capture, and memory expansion. GPS is also on the roadmap - both built-in GPS and Bluetooth GPS receivers.
